& Recycling Information |
- RUBBISH INFORMATION:
All rubbish for the City of Washington will be collected
on MONDAYS. Please make sure
it is at the curb by 6:00 a.m. for collection. Do not put
rubbish and recyclable out before 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.
Waste Management will not pickup the following:
Refrigerators and Air Conditioners without Freon Removed
Building materials, cans, of unused paint, cans or buckets of rock or cement, car parts, lawnmowers containing oil or gasoline, large tree limbs, bruch that is not cut and bundled, or carpet that is not cut and tied.

RECYCLING INFOMATION:
All recycling for the City of Washington will be collected
on the designated MONDAY listed
below. The following recyclables should be placed inside
the container provided. Additional
containers can be purchase for $5.00 at Washington
City Hall. No plastic bags can be used.
- DESIGNATED RECYCLABLES:
(A) GLASS - Brown, green and
clear glass food and beverage bottles and jars. No window
glass, dishes or light bulbs. Rinse out glass and remove
lids and metal or plastic rings. Must be unbroken, remove
as much label as possible.
(B) PLASTIC - PETE containers,
indicated by a recycling symbol with an enclosed number
1 (on bottom of container). Includes soda bottles, salad
dressing bottles, etc. HDPE containers indicated by recycling
symbol with an enclosed number 2. Includes one gallon plastic
milk and detergent bottles. Rinse out containers and remove
lids and metal or plastic rings. May be crushed to save
space.
(C) BI-METAL AND STEEL CANS
- Food and juice cans. Rinse cans. Ends may be removed and
placed in cans, cans should be flattened to save space.
Remove as much of label as possible; Aluminum Can - Beverage
Cans/ Beer and Soda. Rinse cans and crush to save space.
Aerosol and paint cans are not recyclable.
- HOLIDAY SERVICE:
If a holiday falls during the week and your scheduled
pick-up is on or after the holiday, pick-up will be one
day later for the remainder of the week. The holiday affected
is Memorial Day.
