The City of Washington used the first week of spring to remove blight and clean up streets. In January the city contracted with ARC Human Services to supplement city efforts to clean up abandoned property and eliminate blight. Yesterday, workers from ARC worked on Shaeffer Avenue in downtown Washington clearing sidewalks of weeds and debris.
City officials have vowed to work more diligently to clear blight which has been a problem in the city for quite a few years.
